Tom Coughlin, Giants and Super Bowl XLII
The biggest surprise this Superbowl was not the Patriots winning streak (after all they have Brady!), but rather Coughlin leading the Giants to the Superbowl! Leave alone observers and fans of the game in general, even Giants fans did not believe their team could make it! 7-9, yes, may be with luck a 9-7 and slipping into the play-offs. But a 10 - 6 regular season story after a 0-2 start! And out of that 7 on the trot on the road! And when a fan claimed in his blog that the Giants have had latent Super-Bowl talent for the past few years, he was outright scoffed. The lack of belief in the Team was such that they have actually been taken seriously only after winning the NFC! I dont think a more unheralded team and an unheralded Manager, who created more ripples for his realtionship with veterans than anything else, has ever made it to the Bowl!
